A SHEEP stands in a paddock of lolly-pink fairy floss. Eucalypts rise like massive scarlet pom-poms above brick-veneer motels and unremarkable roadhouses, bathing them in cinematic hues of red and pink. Everything in this familiar-yet-unfamiliar world – even silos and abandoned sheds – looks striking and memorable when reflected in rose-coloured glasses.

“I wanted to capture these things but I had to think of a technique to make them stand out and make the viewer really engage with the subject,” says Sean Paris of his dream-like infrared photographic series Koala Country.
