Entries for the 2025 Galah Photography Prize close on midnight, February 10 and we are asking all our friends and supporters to share the news so it reaches as many regional photographers as possible.

We value our regional artists and this prize is one way for Galah to put this into practice.

The overall winner will receive $25,000 and we want as many regional photographers as possible to have a shot not just at winning it, but being selected as a finalist and being hung in our exhibition, coming to the party and connecting with a wider community of regional artists and those who support them.

The entry form and outline can be found via the link below.

  • Entries are open to Australian photographers living outside of the major capital cities. Here's a list of eligible postcodes. Use the search icon on the top right of the table to search for your postcode. If you can't find your postcode but are sure you are regional, email us at info@galahpress.com
  • Entries close at midnight on Monday 10 February.
  • Cost is $35/entry and all finalists will receive a subsidy of $524 per image to help offset printing, framing and shipping costs.
  • The open prize winner receives $25,000, plus a photographic essay published in Galah’s print magazine.
  • The People’s Choice winner receives $2,000.
  • The Award for Excellence in Photojournalism is presented by Good Weekend magazine, and the winner receives four one hour Zoom mentoring sessions with photographers and editors from Good Weekend.
  • All finalists will be exhibited at the New England Regional Art Museum (NERAM) for eight weeks from April 2025. The winners will be announced at a party at NERAM on Saturday 3 May, 2025.
