Art, farming and family intersect in beautiful ways for an artist couple with symbiotic relationships in the farmyard.

TWO kilometres of dusty driveway connect the old homestead at Kalga, where artist Anna Louise Richardson grew up, with the road to the city. Her mother would sometimes surprise her by waiting by the front gate with a pony and cart to bring her home from school.

Richardson now lives in the house her grandparents built on the cattle farm in Mundijong, in the Peel region south of Perth, with her husband, Abdul-Rahman Abdullah, and their three children: Aziza, 6, Althea, 4, and Aqeel, 2. They’re the seventh generation of Richardson’s family to live on the property.
