Dear Aunty Maude
I’ve recently had some trouble at work. I have always been an active hugger and, when appropriate, kisser in both social and work settings. I started in my current job during the pandemic, so my tendency to greet colleagues in this way was suppressed by necessity. But since restrictions were lifted I have found that my affectionate greetings are causing upset in my workplace. Some male colleagues have started referring to me as “MeToo Sue” and are actively avoiding me. It is all quite distressing and I am not sure what I should do.
