Help us create an "artist subsidy" fund to support the finalists in the 2025 Galah Regional Photography Prize.

We're almost ready to open entries to our second Galah Regional Photography Prize and I am pumped.

We have $25,000 for the winner. There'll be an eight week exhibition for 40 finalists at the New England Regional Art Museum opening in April 2025. There'll be a wild party to celebrate it all (get out your diaries and pencil in 3 May 2025 if this sounds like your cup of tea).

But before I get carried away organising all the festivities, I want to ask you for help to create an "artist subsidy" fund.

Why?

Something I didn't appreciate when we held the first Galah Regional Photography Prize was how much of a financial burden being selected as a finalist for art prizes can place on artists.

On one hand, it's really exciting if you're chosen as a finalist. You get to be part of an exhibition, you stand to win prize money, you get to be seen by collectors and meet other photographers. But, you also have to deliver your photographic work printed and framed. This can cost hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars.

I do not want the Galah Regional Photography Prize to be a financial burden on our finalists. I want every artist's work to be exhibited at a high standard and for that to be accessible to everyone who enters.

Sounds good, but how?

I've teamed up with The Australian Cultural Fund to create a tax deductible way to donate to our "artist subsidy" fund.

We are seeking donations from you.

Every cent raised will be equally distributed to the 40 finalists chosen for the 2025 Galah Regional Photography Prize. To give that some context, if we raise $30,000, each finalist will receive $750 to go towards their printing, framing and freight costs.

Please help me create this opportunity for our regional photographers and donate now.

Thank you so much.
